After a long and successful career as a percussionist, and having had the privilege of playing with the most prestigious conductors of the last two decades with the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra of Amsterdam, Lorenzo Ferrándiz began conducting in 2010. His activity as a conductor covers a very diverse range of styles and his concerts are characterized by his intensity and interpretative precision.
Currently, Lorenzo is conductor of the ensemble CrossingLines (Barcelona) and guest conductor of Ensemble New Babylon (Bremen) , groups with which he has premiered and recorded many pieces as part of his commitment to promote the creation of new works.
Lorenzo has conducted the Orquestra Simfònica de Barcelona i Nacional de Catalunya, Orquesta de Extremadura, Orquesta de Córdoba, Orquestra Filarmónica de Catalunya, Orquestra de l’Esmuc, as well as numerous chamber groups as the Quartetto Maurice, Experimental Funktion, CrossingLines and the Ensemble New Babylon whom he has performed throughout Europe and South America, as well as in prestigious festivals such as the Contemporary Music Festival of Huddersfield, Mixtur, OUT·SIDE and Sampler Series of Barcelona. Currently he is assistant conductor of the opera house of Barcelona Gran Teatre del Liceu.
Aside from his work as a conductor, Lorenzo Ferrándiz maintains a long career as a renowned pedagogue in percussion and chamber music having been professor at the Conservatory of Amsterdam and Conservatory of Aragón. Currently he is teaching at Centro Superior de Música del País Vasco (Musikene) and at the Escola Superior de Música de Catalunya (Esmuc).
